Maziar Lalezary, MD, FASRS, is a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained vitreoretinal surgeon. Dr. Lalezary studied neuroscience at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he graduated summa cum laude, and earned his medical degree from the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. At the Vanderbilt Eye Institute, he completed both his ophthalmology residency and vitreoretinal surgical fellowship, where he was selected as a distinguished Gass Fellow.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Lalezary is actively involved in research designed to advance the field of retinal disease. His current research focuses on ocular imaging, artificial intelligence in disease detection, and treatments for dry age-related macular degeneration and geographic atrophy.
Dr. Lalezary is fluent in Farsi and treats patients in Spanish as well.
