Dr. Michael Javaheri

Michael Javaheri, MD, MSc, FASRS, is a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained vitreoretinal surgeon specializing in the medical and surgical treatment of diseases affecting the retina, macula, and vitreous. His clinical expertise includes age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal tears and detachments, macular holes, epiretinal membranes, and retinal vascular conditions.

Dr. Javaheri earned his Bachelor of Science in neuroscience from the University of California, Los Angeles, graduating summa cum laude. He received his medical degree from the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed his internship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, followed by an ophthalmology residency and a two-year fellowship in vitreoretinal diseases and surgery at the renowned Doheny Eye Institute and Los Angeles County + USC Medical Center.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Javaheri serves as an Adjunct Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the Keck School of Medicine of USC. He is actively involved in clinical research, physician education, and the advancement of retinal treatments. His research has addressed retinal prostheses, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular disease, vitreoretinal surgery, and emerging technologies designed to preserve and restore vision.

Dr. Javaheri has authored numerous peer-reviewed scientific articles and book chapters and has presented his research at national ophthalmology meetings. His academic achievements include the prestigious Heed Ophthalmic Fellowship, research and travel awards from the Doheny Eye Institute, and recognition from the National Eye Institute and California Academy of Ophthalmology. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Retina Specialists and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.
